Based on a few research Gypsies are originally come from India. The cause of their immigration from North of India to all over to world were very similar to today’s social problems such as; starvation, religious disputes, political fights etc. Gypsies reach to Iran in 11th century then some went to Balkans in 14th century and to Europe in 15th century. They spread around America and Australia after the second half of 20th century. They traveled from India to Iran as a whole group and then divided in two arms. The ones head to north reach to mid-Europe and Balkans by traveling trough, Black Sea and Russia. The other arm reached to Egypt by traveling trough South-east of Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Palestine. Egypt was the starting point of the third major gypsy migration. Some of the Gypsies even managed to reach to Africa and Spain. Researchers and scientists put Gypsies under three main groups:
1- Balkans and Mid-Europe origins are called KARDELAŞ
2- The ones living in Spain, Portugal, North Africa and Southern France are called "GITANES"
3- European Gypsies are called "SİNTİ” or “MANUSLAR"
As there is no written gypsy history, the only way to find out about their roots, social structure and their relationship with other groups to search trough other states they lived. For this reason all immigrants are considered Gypsies. Their names vary from country to country. If the live in Germany they are called Zigeuner, if living in France Gitane, in Italy Zingari, in Bulgaria Tisigani, in Romania Tigani and in Turkey Cingene etc. There are also names they have been called based on the jobs they are doing. But as the list is going to be too long lest just give a few examples form Turkey: basket man, peddler, tin man, driver etc. But outside Turkey there are general common names like ursari (bear players), curare (pottery makers), rudari (metal smith) etc.
